Multiple DVDs can be a copy of one directory on a hard disk
So the idea is to check a DVD then check another DVD with the same directory

Test Files To see how the routines work we need some test files.
Test files are:
  • The test files and directories are stored in a zip file "testfilesdirectorycompare.zip"where "a.txt" in check directory has not been changed
  • The test files and directories are stored in a zip file "testfilesdirectorycompareModA.zip"where "a.txt" in "check" directory has not been changed
  •  if the user wants to avoid making the test files.  Making the test files will
    • make new log file names - names are date and time dependent
    • make new subdirectory names in "bu" directory - names are date and time dependent

Log File Directory compare display


  • (A) Top level directory of file selected in List (ZZ) same directory as in (K)
  • (B) Subdirectory and filename of file selected in List (ZZ)
  • (C) File size of file selected in list (ZZ)
  • (D) Cursor position of files in list (ZZ)
  • (E) clicking on this button puts the keyboard focus on list (ZZ)
  • (F) List (ZZ) can display 18 files.
    • If there are 60 files and one is interested in file 39 in the list then one can enter in 39 and file 39 will be selected
    • details of file 39 placed in (A), (B) and (C)
  • (G) This gives:
    • the 4 comparisons of files in directory and logfile
      • or  2 directories if not directory and logfile
    • Leave function
    • Put all data displayed in list (ZZ) on the clipboard
    • Clears Clipboard
    • Put all data displayed in list (ZZ) in a file
  • (H) This list appears when making a comparison between a logfile and the contents of a directory. This gives the user a quick way to select different logfile and directory comparisons.  We have:
    • SHA1 - this is an SHA1 log file and directory comparison
    • Double SHA1 - this is an Double SHA1 log file and directory comparison
    • SHA1 Enc - this is an encrypted SHA1 log file and directory comparison
      • selection of password data file is part of function
      • selection of  encrypted SHA1 log file is part of function
      • selection of directory to be compared is part of function
    • Double SHA1 Enc - this is an encrypted SHA1 log file and directory comparison
      • selection of password data file is part of function

  • (I) - processes function selected in list (H)
  • (J) - Directory and Name of selected logfile
    • Encrypted log files have "enc" extension
    • double SHA1 log files have "d1log" extension
    • single SHA1 log files have "1log" extension
    • Name format of log file is:
      • kb
      • year-month-day-hours-minutes-seconds.extension
  • (K) - name of compare directory
  • (L) - number of files and present list description eg:
    • 62 files that are the same
    • 0 files that are different
    • 10 files not in the second - second refers to directory which is in (K)
    • 15 files not in the first - first refers to log file which is in (J)
  • (M) list of files by name then directory
    • selected file has details placed in (A), (B) and (C)
    • Cursor position of selected file is in (D)
  • (ZZ) listing of
