Description




  • Prints graph paper
  • Prints rulers
  • creates a horizontal ruler to measure lengths and colour on monitors
  • creates a vertical ruler to measure height and colour on monitors

Click on "mm Graph or Ruler"

  • Have a choice of printing
    •  a Cartesian graph paper with squares ranging from 1mm to 10mm
    • 2 rulers to a page with graduations ranging from 1mm to 10mm

Have a choice of rulers
  • For Horizontal ruler displaying on screen
    • Click on "Horizontal Ruler"
  • For Vertical ruler displaying on screen
    • Click on "Vertical Ruler"

When on the Screen the Horizontal ruler

  • can be changed to a vertical ruler
  • can be reduced in length

When on the Screen the Vertical ruler

  • can be changed to a horizontal ruler
  • can be reduced in height

Both rulers can

  • measure mouse pointer position
  • measure the distance between two mouse pointer positions
  • measure the colour of the screen under the mouse pointer
  • provide edit boxes to write comments in
    • which are preserved when switching from horizontal ruler to vertical ruler
    • which are preserved when switching from vertical ruler to horizontal ruler

Vertical Ruler Half size
obtained from horizontal ruler by
  1. Clicking on "Change" in List box
  2. Clicking on "Half" in List box
  • Clicking on "Pixels" will have measurement graduations in pixels


  • clicking on "Inches" will have measurement graduations in inches


  • Clicking on "mm" will have measurement graduations in millimetres

Press Alt Key to change "X1,Y1" to "X2,Y2" or vica versa
Press Right Shift Key to Lock-Unlock Colour Details
Press Left Shift Key to Lock-Unlock Pixel Measurement Details
Need to Lock both Colour and Measurement before details can be put on Clipboard
Click on Details to put measurements on Clipboard
Click on "Change" to change from Horizontal to Vertical or vica versa
Moving position Ruler use mouse or Alt U "Up", Alt D "Down", Alt R "Right", Alt L "Left"
Click on "Help" in List box

Press Right Shift Key to Lock-UnLock Colour Details
Press Left Shift Key to UnLock Measurement Details
Click on "Details" in List box

Method to measure the size of Dialog box titled "Print Graph or Ruler" obtained
by Clicking on "mm Graph or Ruler" in another instance of "e_crypt7.exe" as described in above

  1. Click on Window of Horizontal ruler
  2. Move mouse pointer to top left of "Print Graph or Ruler" dialog box
  3. Press "Alt" key without moving mouse pointer
  4. Move mouse pointer to bottom right of "Print Graph or Ruler" dialog box
  5. Press "Left Shift" key


  • width of dialog box is 289 pixels
  • height of dialog box is 226 pixels
  • We can create a horizontal ruler of 289 pixels
  • We can create a vertical ruler of 226 pixels
  1. In the edit box which has 287 type 289
  2. In the edit box which has 226 type 226


  1. click on "X" button
  2. then click on "OK"


  1. Click on "Esc" key
  2. Click on "Y" button


  1. Click on "OK"


  • We can create a horizontal ruler of 20 pixels
  • We can create a vertical ruler of 30 pixels
  1. In the edit box by "X" type 20
  2. In the edit box by "Y" type 30
  3. Click on "X" button


  1. Click on OK


  1. Press "Esc" key
  2. Click on "Y" button


  1. Click on OK


  1. Press "Esc" key

  1. Click on "|X1-X2|" button
  • The "|X1-X2|" is the value of "-289" located below the word "down" which is made into a positive value. This is used to create a horizontal bar

  1. Click on OK


  • This bar is 289 pixels in length as shown by the "-289" value beneath the "Down" word
  • Notice the "L" by the -226 value
    • The "L" stands for locked

  1. Press "Esc" key




  1. Click on"|Y1-Y2| button

The "|Y1-Y2|" is the value of "-226" located below the word "Right" which is made into a positive value. This is used to create a vertical bar



  1. Click on OK


  1. Press the "Esc" key

  1. Press "right shift" key
  2. Press "right shift" key
  • The first of the two actions unlocks the colour values
  • the colour of the pixel at the mouse pointer is placed into the read only edit boxes above the 400.
  • The second of the two actions locks the value of the colours


  • The value of the colour is 0xc8D0D4
  • The value of the colour for HTML is #D4D0C8
